My dentist cut my gums today? I have questions.?

So heres the story. I have braces and my orthodontist wanted to speed up the process because I have had them for a bit over 2 years. He said he was going to cut off some of the gums under my canine teeth because they were not growing productively and he wanted to put braces on them to pull them up to the normal place. He cut quite a bit under one tooth and it hurts from time to time. I rinse with Gly-Oxide. Will my gums heal eventually? Please no lying. And do you think I will get my braces off soon because my teeth are straight. My overbite is fixed. And My impacted tooth is gone.
